DNFD Membership Requirements
- Reside or employed within the territory protected by the Dane-Vienna Fire District
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Successfully complete Wisconsin Entry Level Firefighter I and II, (taught by the WI Technical College System, each course is 30 hours and at no cost to the firefighter candidate)
- Successfully complete FEMA Incident Command System training, courses 100 and 700, (can be taken online)
- Attend 50% (6) of the monthly department meetings within the department fiscal year
- Attend 50% (9) of the scheduled 18 drills within the department fiscal year
- Participate in department sponsored activities
- Lake Melvin Fishing Extravaganza
- Dane Firefighters Festival
- Halloween fire station open house
- Participate in the weekly station, apparatus, equipment, and tool readiness inspections. (You will be assigned to one of 6 teams, teams are rotated on a monthly basis)
- We strongly encourage all firefighters after meeting their minimum training requirements to volunteer for a collateral duty of interest. It takes many different skills and resources to effectively operate a modern fire department, some of the duties you could volunteer for include:
- Department IT specialist
- General construction/fabrication specialist
- Apparatus (truck) maintenance specialist
- Personal Protective Equipment specialist
- SCBA (air pack) specialist
- Etc...
